Window treatments in the Luminous design: a valance and a full curtain panel.

Embellishment on a window behaves differently from embellishment anywhere else, because it is backlit for half the day and lit from inside for the other half. Daylight through the panel keeps the stonework restrained; after dark, lamplight in the room makes it the brightest thing on the wall. The valance is the low-commitment version — it dresses the top of the window without cutting light or committing you to floor-length drapery.

Hang the rod high and wide so the panel clears the glass when open. Luminous runs through much of the range, so the same finish is available in luminous pillows if you want the room to carry it through.
